New Marah

Marah fans that have been pining for the band's new album, Life Is A Problem (Valley Farm Songs) - it drops June 22nd - got a nice little surprise, thanks to Stereogum. SG is premiering "Valley Farm Song" right over here, and you can download it there, too. It's a rather jangly, trashy, wheezy, psychedelic-kind of track. Miss me some Serge!

New Marah

Some news from the Marah front. They claim the new album, Life is a Problem will be dropping June 1st. We'll believe that when we see it. In the meantime, another new song has been released, the sweet acoustic "Waiting for a Devil." Get it using the widget above, or on their website here. Maybe it's just me, but I kinda wanted some rollicking rock n' roll...

New Marah - "Put 'em in the Graveyard"

Yeah, I've been curious what Marah has been up to recording-wise, since hints have been dropped involving farmhouses in the country, Nashville sessions and the like. But no finished product had been revealed. They just, however, released a new single of "Put 'em in the Graveyard" over at their website here. You can stream a bit of it, and pay what you like for the download. I haven't downloaded it, but from what I can hear, it's got a ramshackly-folk kind of vibe going. I do miss Serge and the rock n roll.

Marah: Live On TV, Sort Of (2006)

German TV made a high-quality recording of a October 2006 Marah show in Bonn, but it was never broadcasted. Now the whole set is available on the internet. It’s my favorite iteration of Marah, and it’s a glorious sweaty, rollicking, rocking performance. I highly recommend checking it out here.

New Marah

Marah’s new album, Angels of Destruction, is dropping January 8th, but you can stream the whole album at Yep Roc Records here. And Stereogum has got a download of one of the tracks, “Coughing Up Blood," in a post here. I’m pretty underwhelmed at that one track, so hopefully the rest of the album is better. Anyway, you can get your someone special something nice this holiday and pre-order them a copy of Angels of Destruction here. And yeah, Marah’s will be coming to DC on February 7th –they’ll be playing the 9:30 Club, though I prefer the cozier confines of IOTA.

Marah @ Jammin Java Friday

I’m pretty psyched that my favorite band, Marah, will be back in town this Friday at Jammin Java (VA) for a full band performance. They put on one kick-ass rock show, along the lines of Bruce and the E Streeters. I especially love their energy, and the raspy, straight-outta-Philly accented vocals of lead singer Dave Bielanko. Marah has recently expanded their lineup to six members, adding Christine Smith on keyboards and vocals. Check them rocking out on “It’s Only Money, Tyrone” here.

There’s also a lot of new Marah music on the way. The band’s got a couple of EPs coming out before the end of 2007, with Can’t Take It With You dropping around Halloween and then the holiday-flavored Counting the Days coming out around November. Those will serve as nice appetizers for the new full-length album, Angels of Destruction, that will be landing in January 2008.

Mo' Marah

Marah's new full-length CD, Angels of Destruction, isn't due out until 2008, but in the meantime, Yep Roc is releasing Can't Take It With You, an EP containing unreleased new and vintage material, as well as a couple songs from Angels of Destruction ("Can't Take It With You" and "Angels on a Passing Train"). The EP will be available on limited edition 10-inch vinyl, and available digitally on October 30th. You can stream the EP now right here.
