Ice Road Truckers
I’ve been enjoying the new series “Ice Road Truckers” on the History Channel. It’s kind of like watching NASCAR, except with huge 15-ton tractor trailers that are going much slower, but on roads made of floating ice up by the Arctic Circle. It’s not all just watching the trucks drive, however. There’s little character studies and scientific tidbits thrown in throughout to keep things honest. And of course, there’s the inevitable constant waiting for wrecks – but in this case, wrecks can also involve breaking through the ice and plunging into the freezing water!
