
i just found this guy as i was scouting the upcoming shows at the various venues around town. Willy Porter is slated to play with Glen Phillips (the former frontman of Toad the Wet Sprocket) at the Birchmere in May. anyway, he's got a cool voice that's kind of a combination of Tom Petty and Marc Cohn. the music might be a little bit sappy and mellow, but it's well-produced, and it's a peaceful listen.

oddly enough, i thought that, too - kind of like a matthew ryan who didn't smoke
