Locally-Speaking

firstly, if you didn't know, Mike Holden, the "Czar of Arlington," has released a new EP, Level, and it'll be coming soon to stores near you. he got to work with some cool individuals in the recording process, like producer Ted Comerford (Virginia Coalition) and mixer Mitch Easter (R.E.M.). take a listen to the first track here. Mike's done alot for the music scene here in Arlington (he's the founder of AMS), and I hope it does well!

secondly, local arlington hangout, Dr. Dremo's, is in danger of being demolished to make way for a 10-story building as part of Arlington's stealthy "Project Gentrification." i don't go there very much anymore, but it's a cool place to hang out and go play an open mic night. and it's got a whole bunch of beers. anyway, it's quirky, and it gives some character to a downtown area that's rapidly losing its identity to pottery barns and 10-story buildings.
