Wed

wow, my knee is quite swollen right now. i just got back to my mom's house after spending the day in NYC for my high school friend Mike's wedding. tired? yes, it's 12:48. sore? yes, i traversed over 30 blocks, roaming the streets of NYC, taking it all in. i haven't been there in like a year, and it was good to visit. when i popped out of penn station, the lights and action of NYC hit me like a ton of bricks. DC really doesn't compare with it. of course, DC has charms all its own.

anyway, the ceremony was held in central park, in a beautiful little secluded garden with the requisite fountain and hedgerow. luckily, the foreboding clouds held their collective tongues, and didn't decide to pour buckets of rain down on us. we all then took school buses to the reception at etoile. funny, i had figured i'd never set foot in a school bus again...

anyway, the reception at etoile was a good time - i got to hang out with some friends from high school that i don't get to see too often, which was cool. i know a bunch of my friends' friends that were there, which made the crowd a bit more familiar. we got some catching up done, and a bunch of quality football talk and analysis. good pick on the restaurant - the food was good, and the band was tastefully grooving the jazzy stuff - the atmosphere kind of felt like one where rat pack would have felt quite comfy. and each table had a big bowlful of different kinds of nuts - and not just your run-of-the-mill peanuts - these were maple sugar glazed walnuts and pecans, and then chocolate covered almonds (?) and hazelnuts (?) - my, i must say, these were soooo tasty.

aight, i think that's enough - i've got to go to sleep, cus tomorrow i'll be driving back down to crystal city, and hopefully i'll be able to fit some football in!
