Blues, by Paul Rose...

Yeah, it's another busy week. But don't let that stop you from watching British guitarist Paul Rose tear it up on his guitar with the Paul Rose Band.

It's A Major Award...

Say you're having trouble finding a holiday gift for that certain someone - perhaps a little something seasonal and tasteful from FRAGILE would suffice? Yep, that's right, kids, you can pick up leg lamps like the ones from A Christmas Story over here.

Falling Slowly, Covered

I've been hit by some sort of cold or flu this week, which kept me up all last night wearing a winter hat to stop myself from shivering. But at least my nose has stopped gushing like a faucet. On a lighter note, here's a lovely duet - it's Edie Carey and Rose Cousins covering the gorgeous song "Falling Slowly" (made famous in the movie Once) on acoustic guitars. Take a listen.

Does Chris Martin Really Surf With The Alien?

It seems like everybody wants a piece of Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" these days, even guitar virtuosos. I'm sure you've heard about the Joe Satriani vs. Coldplay dustup - Mr. Satriani is claiming that Coldplay ganked a the melody from his 2004 guitar instrumental "If I Could Fly." You haven't heard his piece? Youtube comes to the rescue, with a nice little mash-up (not created by me).

I Sing Your Face Electric

Check out this video by Tokyo artist Daito Manabe – it’s kind of freaky. Turns out a little electricity can bring a little happiness…sort of. Anyway you can get further explanation over at the Smithsonian Surprising Science Blog here where I initially discovered it…

23 Rainy Days @ The Firehouse Grill Friday

23 Rainy Days has constantly been improving with each batch of new songs they’ve released, and their new album, A Wonderful Disaster, is no exception. They embrace their influences (The Cure, The Smiths) while expanding on them, and they do it beautifully, creating a gorgeous expansive sound, lush with electric guitars and syths. And lead singer Ian MacGregor’s Cure-ish vocals fit the rather depressive lyrics like a hand to a glove. If you like what you hear, check them out this Friday, December 5th at The Firehouse Grill in Fairfax, VA.
