Get Some Action
you know where the Rhodeside Grill is? of course! well go there this Friday night. some of our Blue Room compadres, Some Brave Apollo and The Strohs, will be playing there that evening. Uncle Jim's Comedy Troupe opens the evening at 8:45 (they're comedy, not a band), and then the rock starts at 10:00. after doing month-end accounting reports this week, i'm definitely looking forward to this....and it's free, kids!

looks like the government is looking harder at trying to collect taxes on internet sales. that effin' sucks. i love buying shiznit on amazon.com while getting free shipping and not being charged tax.

But Is It Homeopathic?
the use of maggots and leeches for medicinal purposes is like, so hot these days. quick and start up your own maggot or leech farm to cash in on the demand for these eaters of flesh and blood! really.

i just found out about the band Black Eyed Dog from a link on producer Ted Comerford's website - i'm digging the jangly rock and strong vocals of their song "Straight Drive" - give 'em a listen.

Let Him Starve
i'm sure you remember the sniper attacks in the DC Metro area awhile back...you know, 10 dead, 3 wounded? well, a judge allowed corrections officials to forcibly feed convicted sniper John Allen Muhammad while he awaits trial. he's already sentenced to die, so frankly, if he wants to starve to death, i say let him. starvation's got to be a more painful way to go than lethal injection.

Forget About Dre?
It's been six years since hip-hop legend Dr. Dre's last studio album, and its planned follow-up, reportedly titled "Detox," seems no closer to completion. But one of his key collaborators tells Billboard.com Dre is continuing to work on new music and still plans to release another album, even if it takes several more years to do the job right."There will be another Dr. Dre solo album, without a doubt," says bassist Mike Elizondo, who began working with the artist on the 1999 album "Dr. Dre -- 2001" and has since been a fixture on Dre-produced recordings by Xzibit, Eminem and the Game.

Rock and Such
Pearl Jam will on Sept. 1 launch its own digital download store via its official Web site. Hours after their completion, full concerts from the group's fall tour will be available for $9.99 as 192K MP3s, which are higher than the standard bit rate.
the ever-prolific Ryan Adams will release his second album of 2005 with his band the Cardinals, "Jacksonville City Nights," on Sept. 27 via Lost Highway. As previously reported, the 14-track set is highlighted by the Norah Jones duet "Dear John."
Howard Stern also confirmed that his Sirius start date is Jan. 9, allowing for some downtime after he completes his 20-year Infinity tenure in December. should Infinity spring him before then, Stern said he would start at Sirius the day after news broke of his premature departure.

Maiden Attack
heavy metal band Iron Maiden had a bad day at the LA Ozzfest show, getting pelted with eggs, lighters, and more by the audience...the band suffered numerous sound problems during their set, and afterwards the band's manager claimed sabotage!!!! hey now!!! and of course, Mrs. Ozzy Osbourne topped off the evening by coming on stage after the set to call Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson a "prick" for allegedly berating her husband, Ozzy Osbourne. that almost makes me wish i was there...

Tommy Lee Is My Roommate
my television watching standards drop on weekend afternoons, before the NFL season starts, anyway. so i'm currently viewing Tommy Lee Goes To College on VH1. it looks like tattooed one just pimped out his dormroom, much to the delight of his geeky roommie. i must say, the leopard-skin sheets are definitely a plus. i wonder what the thread count is on those babies? it's too bad tommy lee didn't play the guitar or sing in Motley Crue, so he really can't be doing any "Mr. Feelgood" unplugged in the dormrooms, which would kick ass. still, i'm sure i'm going to be sucked into this one.
i'm heading out this afternoon w/ christine to see Last Train Home @ IOTA. an afternoon no-smoking show? what more could i ask for? i've wanted to see LTH for a long time now, so this is pretty cool. though i'm wondering how fresh they'll be after playing shows Friday night and Saturday night at IOTA, too.

aight, i can now read a magazine at my dining room table without squinting! i went and got myself a nice table lamp for the table (where else?) that gives me 100W of sweet, sweet light. no torchiere, cus i just don't think one'd stand upright on my carpet very long. and that Bloodbath & Beyond 20% coupon was most helpful (thanks, Christine) - BB&B gives those coupons away like candy - if candy was free and provided monetary discounts.

aight, kids. i'm watching the "rock countdown" on MTV2, and it looks like some Bravery is just starting up. nice boots. i need lamps. many lamps. this apartment is too damn dark, and i can barely make out the words when i'm reading . i'd get me one of those halogen bad boys like i had in college, but it's just not very safety conscious. so i'll be looking for a torchiere lamp (sounds fancy, eh?) at Bloodbath and Beyond with christine. i'm not very impressed with this Bravery song, "Fearless." i think The Killers could kick their collective asses. and i hope The Killers won that supposed feud they were having. anyway, make sure y'all check out the new postings on Postsecret and entertain yourselves.

Garth Is Mine!!! All Mine!!!!
looks like the Waltons have purchased Garth Brooks. No details of the agreement were released by Wal-Mart officials on Friday, but the music trade publication Billboard reported that the deal will make Wal-Mart, Sam's Club and their online outlets the only places where Brooks' music will be commercially available.

looks like Pierce Brosnan has drunk his last vodka martini. the powers that be called him and told him that he was finished, no more bond for him! frankly, i really don't care. i didn't like him all that much, and the new films have sucked. the only good thing that came out of all this is i found a cool james bond site in the process of writing this post.

's Baaaaaaaaaack!
looks like Fiona Apple's long-delayed third album, Extraordinary Machine, is finally getting relased October 4th...i'm not a huge fan of Fiona's but it was interesting how her label, Epic Records, initially shelved the album upon its completion, claiming that it lacked a "marketable single." and only after much fan support and fan bitching did the label finally decide to make it available. it sucks that the labels can essentially forbid an artist to release his/her creative product.

Springer Causes Trouble On The Opera Circuit?oh, you know you can't resist Jerry Springer....
The writers of profanity-laden "Jerry Springer - The Opera" are angry. The creators of the show that caused a record number of complaints when aired on British television say religious censorship is in danger of strangling the arts. The musical is based on Jerry Springer's brash American talk show whose lurid topics include "Honey I'm a Call Girl" and "Bring on the Bisexuals."

Brian Eno Loves Bill Gates
Did you know that Brian Eno wrote the Microsoft startup music?
Q: How did you come to compose "The Microsoft Sound''?
A: The idea came up at the time when I was completely bereft of ideas. I'd been working on my own music for a while and was quite lost, actually. And I really appreciated someone coming along and saying, ``Here's a specific problem -- solve it.''
The thing from the agency said, ``We want a piece of music that is inspiring, universal, blah- blah, da-da-da, optimistic, futuristic, sentimental, emotional,'' this whole list of adjectives, and then at the bottom it said ``and it must be 3 1/4 seconds long.''
I thought this was so funny and an amazing thought to actually try to make a little piece of music. It's like making a tiny little jewel.
In fact, I made 84 pieces. I got completely into this world of tiny, tiny little pieces of music. I was so sensitive to microseconds at the end of this that it really broke a logjam in my own work. Then when I'd finished that and I went back to working with pieces that were like three minutes long, it seemed like oceans of time.

Senor Richman is gonna make his network television debut this sunday...
from the desk of Adam Richman...
I, Adam Richman, will be appearing on NBC's Today Show (weekend edition) this Sunday (August 14) performing my network television debut! (not a big deal... or is it?) Set your TIVO to tune in around 8:00 AM (i don't know the actual time, truthfully) to watch me sing "The Loneliness Song" to millions of coffee drinking over-achievers (i mean non-over-sleepers).

CBGB is staying right where it is for now - a civil court judge ruled Wednesday that the landmark punk club CBGB's can't be evicted from its Bowery location, saying it shouldn't be punished for not noticing it owed its landlord money. damn, CBGB's rent is $19K a month! can you imagine having to pay that!

Why Buy The Cow...
Most new computers are equipped for wireless Internet access, and more and more people opting for Wi-Fi in their homes. But as the networks become stronger and more prevalent, more of those signals are available outside the home of the subscriber, spilling over into neighbor's apartments, hallways and the street.
so why pay for speedy internet access, again?

Talking In A Crowded Room
tired of hearing people all around you chatting it up on their cell phones, like they're in their own living rooms? one of these cell phone jammers might make you feel a bit better. of course, they're illegal, but wouldn't it be fun to use one in an elevator or on the metro?

Big Mwhat's with all of these food-related postings, you say? it's the food network, i tell you! this channel makes me hungry! anyway, a new line of Mega M&M's, which on average are 55 percent bigger than the originals, were introduced Thursday in Manhattan. the new M&M's are available in milk chocolate and peanut varieties and come with an "adult-oriented" color scheme that includes teal, beige, maroon, gold, brown and blue-gray. Ummmm...i really can't imagine gnawing on a huge teal M&M.

well, i devoured the new Harry Potter book in a day, and i'm left even more frustrated - arghhhh!...not that it wasn't a damn good read (most excellent, i must say), but once again, J.K. Rowling has left me with unanswered questions and mysteries that i want solved right now! i won't name any ones in particular, since i don't want to spoil anyone's fun. but i'll definitely be anxiously awaiting the next Harry Potter. wonder if it'll be the final one?

Rowling has left me with unanswered questions and mysteries that i want solved right now! i won't name any ones in particular, since i don't want to spoil anyone's fun. but i'll definitely be anxiously awaiting the next Harry Potter. wonder if it'll be the final one?

Pick A Clone...Any Clonehere's a little pictorial review of all of the animals that have been cloned so far.
Got It
i now have the new Harry Potter book in my possession, thanks to Amazon - i'm shooting to get it finished by the end of sunday, so work won't interfere with my reading. and i also received the new All-American Rejects CD, so I'll be listening to that over the next few days.
We Haven't Heard The Last of This
looks like "Father Mel" Gibson has been asked to recreate the crucifixion of Jesus in the streets of Sydney. i'm sure no one will notice or have problems with this.

The Life of a Jeopardy Champion
this is a cool article - it kind of gives you a behind the scenes look at Jeopardy...and if you didn't already know, Ken Jennings is my hero.

Butchie?
While playing in sold out arenas on tour with Avril Lavigne, Butch Walker has decided to play a few separate club shows for his fans. Due to contractual obligations however, he cannot play under his name so he will be playing under the name "Lead Singer Disease" for these shows. The shows will mostly be in large cities that the tour stops in, and most likely be after-show shows. Butch Walker promises that ticket prices will be cheap, and since they will be late night shows, the set will go no longer than 30 minutes. So far, three shows for "Lead Singer Disease" have been planned, in LA (TBD), Atlanta (at The Loft) and New York City (at Don Hill's).

Things I'm Loving at 8:56
Wildboyz - dude, how can you not love watching Steve-O pierce his cheek, wrestle bears, get pissed on by elephants, and lick some dude's nasty feet in India?
Breyers Light Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream - i think this is how frozen crack would taste

"I have never used steroids. Period.''
looks like Raffy finally got snagged...
Rafael Palmeiro was suspended 10 days for violating Major League Baseball's steroids policy Monday, nearly five months after the Baltimore Orioles first baseman emphatically told Congress that ``I have never used steroids. Period.''
