Rock, Facial Hair, and Muffins
-the show went quite well this Friday - definitely a good time, with a good turnout - but i think my ear is still ringing from the drums! now i've just got a ton of laundry to do, and the rest of the 48 hour Cheers marathon to watch!
-uhhh....shave it like Beckham?
-here's a little site with dancing muffins that talk - and some more...

Showtime
well, it's a few hours from showtime, so in order to prepare, i'm watching an AMC special on Bruce Lee that includes "never-before-seen" footage from "The Game of Death." that will definitely assist with my music kung fu.
casper was kind enough to give our upcoming show a plug on his blog - muchas gracias
i just found out that Adam Richman is making a rare return to the DC area next wednesday at Jammin Java - i'm pretty psyched - and he's playing with two acts that i've wanted to see, Dean Fields and Carroway, so i think i'll give in to the $10 Jammin Java cover. nothing like a smoke-free evening with a quality sound system.

No More Phishing!
sadly, i just read on CNN that the group phish is breaking up. though i've never been to a Phish show, i've come to enjoy their music and virtuosity over the past several years. trey gets an amazing tone out of his guitar, and it's always good to see a band with keyboards/piano as an integral component to its sound (thanks, Page).
apparently, there is an orchestra that makes its instruments out of vegetables.
and in case you haven't noticed, this picture shows just how valuable gas has become...

Sala!
-i sat next to an extremely hot woman on my metro ride home from work...no, not that kind of hot. this woman's skin was literally radiating heat - like a furnace.
-missing that weekly Jackass fix? check out what Steve-O is doing here...

Replace the Aged!
well, i got through my first day of being 28. yeah, i'm gettin' old. very busy, just like the rest of the week so far... i went looking at stereo systems, briefly - i'm looking to replace my JVC stereo that i've had since my freshman year in high school. it served me oh-so-well until it finally gave out, function by function. best buy has the type of systems i'm looking for (not component-based), but today's designs might as well stamp the words "P-I-M-P" on the front of the system. with faux chrome plating and agressive, gaudy speaker designs the norm, i'm not pleased about my choices. so i'll just bide my time for now.

Go Ahead - Pee on Your Hands!
peeing on your hands has been en vogue recently in Major League Baseball. but is it really beneficial? check it out here. i just got Adam Richman's new CD, "Patience & Science," in the mail - as soon as i'm in my car, i'll be listening to it...

Jack
well, we made it out to man asses for practice - traffic actually wasn't that bad! it's so dark out there at night - you can even see the stars!
is it possible to drink a whole bottle of jack daniels in an evening and then recite shakespeare? is it possible to eat a whole bag of baked doritos in an evening? aren't rhetorical questions fun?

Various Bits
did anyone understand tonight's "The Sopranos"?
i thought late-night food shopping at Shoppers' Club would allow me to run through the check-out process unimpeded - unfortunately, the place was packed, and for some reason, the lady in front of me in the "Under 15 Items" isle was paying for a fifty item order.
band practice tomorrow in Manasses after work - will pete and i be able to get there in under an hour and a half? good question.

Are You Not Entertained?
well, pete has been clamoring for an updated post, so what the public wants, it gets (as long i want it, too). here's my week in entertainment...
i saw patty griffin at the birchmere this past tuesday, and i was very much looking forward to it. did the show meet up to my own personal hype? no. was her voice as amazing as it sounds on her CDs? yes. did i approve of her setlist? no. will i keep alternating between yes and no questions? sucker. of course! anyway, she played mostly new material, while i'm more of a fan of her first two albums. and she kept the up-tempo stuff to a minimum without taking any quality time to rock out. but i was pleased to see that she sold out the place. they were definitely not there for the opening solo dude, who only garnered some lively applause upon his announcing, "this is my last song."
i really haven't been watching frasier the past five years, but i still felt compelled to watch the final closing of "tossed salad and scrambled eggs." yes, that's kelsey singing the tun. but the big show thursday was the season finale of ER! oh, bad. i pretty much watch it now just to continue my streak of seeing every episode. and i must admit i do enjoy complaining how "it's not as good as it used to be," and laughing at how poorly certain characters are written.
yeah, i was pretty cranky this week.

Another One...
i figured the time has come for another post...man, i just watched "elephant," by director gus van sant. normal, this movie was not. unfortunately, good it was not either. characters roaming a school on a typical day - at columbine. of course, he employed the tarantino character storyline/timewarp time continuum jumble that's become merely an exercise of style, instead of a statement. i just would like my four dollars back. anyway, i'd love to create my mix CD as part of my contribution to mr. goldman's International Mixtape Project - unfortunately, my burner is being quite cranky, popping out error messages and ruining my blank CDs like it's going out of style. so i'll just sit and enjoy the end of "swingers," reminisce about college and drink black label. all except the black label, that is...
